VICTORIA CHRISTOL: “For me, school choice is so important because it gives us the option to put our kids into any school, and it makes it affordable. Many parents think that they can’t put their kids into private school, because there is nothing available to them and they can’t afford it. But, they can.”

My name is Victoria Christol and I have three children. My youngest son is in 7th grade, my oldest son is in 12th grade and my daughter is in college. Both my sons have been attending private school for five years. We found out about the scholarship after their first year and they both have been receiving it the last four years.

We are originally from California and my kids were in private school there, so before we moved to Las Vegas, I looked around for a private school. At the time, I had one child in high school, one in middle school, and one in elementary school. I had to be at work at a certain time, and knew there was no way I could drive the kids around to get them to school on time. I needed one school that goes from Kindergarten to the 12th grade, so a co-worker suggested our private school.

It was important for my kids to go to a great school that felt like a community, and which was small. Most schools have hundreds of students and your kid becomes a number. What I like about our school is that the front office staff and the teachers know who my kids are; they know who I am. They greet me when I come in the door, and you cannot get that in public school. Academically, they are being prepared for their future. They have regular core courses and bible classes, so they can learn about God and get the best education possible.

For me, school choice is so important because it gives us the option to put our kids into any school, and it makes it affordable. Many parents think that they can’t put their kids into private school, because there is nothing available to them and they can’t afford it. But, they can!
